How to celebrate a Traditional Korean Dol aboard a luxury Yacht!

Posted June 1, 2013 by Fantasea Yachts Team

My baby nephew Noah, turned a precious one this year and we celebrated his Dol (Korean 1st birthday) aboard the luxury yacht RegentSea.  The Dol is a Korean tradition that celebrates a baby’s first birthday.  This tradition is celebrated because in the past, the death rates for children were high and making it to their first birthday was considered an important milestone.  The dol celebration is a gathering of family and friends to share food and well wishes for long life and fortune for the baby.  The main ritual of the dol takes place with the doljabi – where the baby is placed in front of a table of foods and objects.  Noah was presented with Money (wealth), iPhone (tech savvy), Baseball Glove and Ball (athletic), Book and Pen (scholarly) and Stethoscope (doctor).  Noah selected the Book and Pen and is now destined to be smart and scholarly.
The yacht was festively decorated by Twinkle Events who set the main doljabi table.  The florals were provided by Blossom Floral Design.  We chose a baby blue and chocolate theme with linens from Elegant Designs Specialty Linen and the RegentSea looked amazing.  Andrew Zinn of Zinn Photography was the photographer and captured such great photos of our family and friends.  The evening was absolutely memorable and our friends and family are still talking about how much fun they had and how much they enjoyed the food, the yacht and the service.  As an aunt and a career party planner, I could not have been more thrilled with the event.  It was so special, beyond perfect and memorable.

Cruising through Wedding Season

Posted June 20, 2011 by Fantasea Yachts Team

Just a few photos of the amazing weddings this weekend at FantaSea that I was able to snap! We also had the pleasure of celebrating So. Pasadena High School’s Annual Grad Night aboard the FantaSea One, Champion’s USA aboard the Dandeana and Richard’s 90th Birthday Soiree aboard the RegentSea. More pictures soon to come.

Jessica & Ty’s Wedding – RegentSea, Marina del Rey ~ Friday, June 17, 2011

photo[10]

We loved Jessica and Ty’s wedding colors of white and black damask with touches of deep purple and lime green. They even had specialty cocktails to match their colors that were popular with all of their guests. “The Groom” was a lime green cocktail of malibu, midori, triple sec, lemon and pineapple juices. “The Bride” was a deep purple cocktail of champagne, diet cranberry and pomegranate juices.

It was a perfect wedding from start to finish.

Congratulations Jessica and Ty!

Angela and Henry’s Wedding Reception – FantaSea Yacht Club, Marina del Rey ~  Saturday, June 18, 2011

candy station

My favorite moment:  The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority formed a circle around Angela and sang her the Sweetheart Song.  It was very sweet and touching moment that was then followed by the Greek Stroll as the ladies performed a choreographed dance to “Hypnotize” by Notorious B.I.G.  My favorite delectable detail:  Angela’s candy station in red and tiffany blue.  She designed every last detail herself.  It was a fave with all of her guests!

Arpineh and Salman’s Wedding – RegentSea, Marina del Rey ~ Sunday, June 19, 2011

salman and arpineh

The perfect Armenian wedding!  We started with the wedding ceremony as we cruised the main channel of Marina del Rey.  After the ceremony, as the guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and cocktails, we transformed the Party Deck into the reception room for dining and dancing as the couple took a moment for their sunset pictures. The guests were ready to party as they began dancing in the bar area.  The rest of the evening was filled with dancing, dinner, more dancing and even a belly dancer performance during dinner with a candelabra balanced on her head with real candles!

Congratulations Arpi and Salman!

Breanna’s Quinceanera

Posted June 6, 2011 by Fantasea Yachts Team

On Saturday, June 4 aboard the FantaSea One in Marina del Rey, we celebrated Breanna’s Quinceanera.  She was absolutely beautiful in a dress with layers of pink and ivory satin ruffles.  Her hair was gorgeous with big curls swept into an updo, finished with a tiara fit for a princess.  The party began with a first dance with her father, that brought everyone to tears.  Followed by a waltz with her court as each chambelan greeted her with a pink rose.  After dinner, Breanna surprised everyone with a special song and guitar performance.  It was the perfect venue for the quinceanera as the evening continued with the little kids playing in the lounge, older guests chatting away in the dining room and the serious dancers getting down on the Party Deck.

Congratulations Breanna!  Thank you for letting us be a part of your special day as we celebrated with your family and friends.
