Mardi Gras translated in french means “Fat Tuesday”. Fat Tuesday is the last day of the weeklong Mardi Gras celebration and is the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, it also marks the beginning of Lent. Its origins lie in a week of decadence and indulgence before the sacrifices of Lent, when followers of Judeo-Christian religions are required to give up something they enjoy until Easter. Traditional colors for Mardi Gras are purple for justice, green for faith, and gold for power. Deck out your Fat Tuesday themed party in these colors. Popular party favors include Mardi Gras beads, fancy masks, jester hats, and noise makers. Try an easy centerpiece of assorted feathers and beads.

Greet guests with an Absolut French Quarter Cocktail: 1-1/3 oz. Absolut Vodka, 2/3 oz. Midori Melon Liquer, a dash of Rose’s Lime Juice and Champagne. Add the Midori, Vodka and Lime to a chilled champagne flute – Fill the rest of the glass with your favorite Champagne and garnish with a sprig of mint.

Traditional dishes of Gumbo and Jambalaya compliment your theme followed by yummy King Cake, thanks to Epicurious!

Yes, we know it’s over…..we just couldn’t resist sharing last year’s Holiday Collection for the many events that shared their festivities with us. Thank you to our returning guests, already booking dates for the 2012 season, with 5 “official” weeks of Holiday Season, starting Friday, November 30, we are sure to delight you all again. The Marina del Rey Holiday Parade of Lights will take place on Saturday, December 8, 2012.

Special touches of glistening Garnet and Gold décor adorned each holiday tree, adding a touch of luxurious tradition to the holiday warmth aboard the FantaSea One, RegentSea, Dandeana and the FantaSea Yacht Club in the Marina. The décor designers dressed the grand buffet, dessert display, festive bar, dining tables and accent tables throughout. Tall hurricane lamps were placed as the bar presentation with sparkling votives with decorated garlands all around.

Beautiful fabrics, assorted garlands and wonderful surprises completed the overall theme. A combination of warm Burgandy and Ivory linens and napkins added accent to the exquisite Garnet and Gold Holiday Décor Collection. We really loved this theme!
