DIY Bat Mitzvah
Posted January 13, 2012 by Stephanie Ginzburg
As we think back to the last year, we wanted to give special attention to Ali, one of our Bat Mitzvahs and her mother Elaine. Allison was an incredibly delightful young lady we had the honor of working with. John Williams-Jacob, their event planner recalls fondly the many meetings that left him wanting more of her energy and commitment to the DIY world for her FantaSea Yacht Club Bat Mitzvah. Elaine gave full credit to Ali for the vision, walking to each store, asking clerks and taking the time to fulfill her DIY dreams with hard work. We wanted to share some of her great ideas and photos of her finished centerpieces.

Just wanted to share some of the extraordinary photos of Bar and Bat Mitzvahs produced by Robin Crevelt of In Any Event . We have the pleasure of seeing Robin at least a dozen times a year – she is truly a Mitzvah Maven! While holding many events with us over the years, she loves the Land and Sea combination, offering her clients the best of both worlds with a Cocktail Cruise aboard either the Dandeana or RegentSea and then a full blown Simcha in the FantaSea Yacht Club. Robin started her own event planning company nearly 20 years ago but continues to stay up to date, beyond current and even lunches with her mitzvah kids because they think she’s so cool. She takes special care of her clients, works for them like no other and always maintains the utmost professional stance while enjoying the evening that she scripts from start to finish. Whether hauling in her collection of amazing hand crafted centerpieces or lining up dancers on the floor, inspecting the dessert station for tastiness or taking care of all the “older young adults” Robin enjoys every aspect of the party planning world. In any event, Robin gets high marks with FantaSea Yachts and keeps us on our toes !
Dr. Seuss Strikes Again!

You don’t have to be a celebrity to be recognized—even in Los Angeles. Just ask Toni Rivin who created a Dr. Seuss themed Bat Mitzvah for daughter Jessi, with a little help from the FantaSea Events Staff. She had the good sense not to serve green eggs and ham (although our chefs insist they could make it), instead choosing to fill the space with whimsical reminders of childhood favorites like Horton, Cat in the Hat and the Grinch. The clever décor caught the eye of WomansDay.com, and they featured the creative shindig in an article last month. March 09

Which Way?
Coming up with a creative party theme can seem like a daunting task but if you don’t over think it and go with your gut, you’ll probably be pleasantly surprised at your own creative instincts. Start by thinking about the guest of honor and what is important to her and you are off to a good start. In this case, the Bat Mitzvah symbolized an important transition in a young girl’s life. While she was not shrugging off childhood completely, she was entering a new world of responsibility and the whimsical theme was a reminder of the carefree life she was leaving behind. Children and adults alike appreciated the humor and fun and the playful theme set just the right tone for the festivities. Once the theme was decided, the ideas flew—the decorations, from table tops to directional signs, celebrated Seuss and Jessi even called up honored friends and family with rhyme, weaving the theme through every aspect of the celebration. Even the escort cards and party favors were Seussified, ensuring each guest would remember the day for many years to come. The spirit of Seuss was so contagious that our original blog about the event was in rhyme and we wouldn’t be a bit surprised if the thank you notes sent to guests afterwards rhymed as well.
