The Bridal Kit

With so many brides engaged over the Holidays, including our very own Ruby Dichirico, we thought this would be a good time to roll out the “what’s needed” in a Bridal Kit blog.

Ruby D and the Bridal Kit

Every bride should be prepared for the unexpected. I tried frantically once to “fix” a hemming situation with white duck tape as the bride stepped on her dress. I’ve plucked unwanted hairs, tossed baby powder on stains and given away hundreds of safety pins.Years ago, standing jaw dropped as my bride whipped out (in line for the processional) a sewing kit to re-hem the train of her dress that her MOH had stepped on, the need for a Bridal Kit was born.  There are many versions readily available – from fancy and chic to DIY. Whichever you choose, the best are see-through, easy to find item containers that can be plucked in a heartbeat. Here’s a list of helpful must-haves to include in yours;

  • Breath Mints, Breath Strips or Mouthwash
  • Toothbrush and Toothpaste
  • Lipstick, lip balm and Vaseline – rubbing vaseline on your teeth prior to photos makes for an easy smile
  • Hairspray, hairpins and elastics – comb or brush
  • Clear Nail Polish – stops stocking rips
  • Nail File, Nail Clippers and Tweezers
  • Deodorant, Baby Powder and Baby Wipes – freshness fades!
  • 1 extra pair of stockings
  • Sewing Kit – those little hotel numbers come in handy
  • Shout Wipes OR Wet Ones – individual packages for quick clean-ups
  • Clear Band Aids – new shoes = new boo boo
  • Superglue – need I say more?
  • Eyedrops – yes, both bride and groom cry during a ceremony

In addition to your kit – makeup and perfume used the day of to touch-up when needed. AND…don’t forget to pack your “post-wedding” shoes. Your feet will thank you.
